Guides: How to measure your cue’s joint collar · Compare carbon shafts by joint, diameter and length. The comparison covers Pinnacle, REVO, Cynergy and Pure X. We do not offer joint matching or custom collar fitting.
Choosing the correct joint and collar size
Customers are responsible for selecting the correct joint type and collar diameter for their cue. The threaded connection and outside collar diameter are different measurements. For example, a 3/8 x 10 connection does not tell you whether your cue needs the .843-inch or .855-inch collar choice.
If you already know the required size, select it and order normally. Otherwise, use a digital caliper to measure the outside diameter of the cue butt at the joint—not the threaded pin. Set the caliper to inches. If you do not have a caliper, one can be purchased to take the measurement.
For the closest match, follow these steps:
| Step | How to measure |
|---|---|
| 1 | Measure as close to the joint edge as possible. |
| 2 | Close the caliper before each measurement and confirm that it reads zero. |
| 3 | Take three separate measurements, turning the cue a quarter turn between readings. |
A difference in outside collar diameters can leave a small lip where the shaft and cue butt meet, even when the threaded connection fits correctly. Measure before ordering if a flush transition is important to you, or order with the understanding that a small lip may remain. A perfectly flush match is not guaranteed.
Measuring examples only. Use your own cue’s measurement when selecting a collar size; the displayed measurement is not the required size for your cue.
Introducing Defy — a shaft that defies the stereotype of carbon fiber shafts. Defy gives you the unparalleled accuracy and control that you expect from carbon fiber, but uses state-of-the-art technologies to shatter its limitations. SmacWrap, originally designed for the aerospace industry, absorbs vibration and dampens noise resulting in a confident hit with a soft feel and quiet sound. McDermott's super-smooth coating reduces friction, allowing the shaft to glide through your fingers with ease like a wood shaft. Only Defy’s insane energy transfer and accuracy will remind you that you’re using a carbon fiber shaft. Patent 11,534,676.
