Joss Goes Carbon
The Joss Shadow Carbon Fiber Shaft is the first carbon fiber playing shaft from Joss Cues, and it was built to feel like a Joss. After more than a year of research, development, and testing, Dan and Stephen Janes set out to deliver the accuracy and durability of carbon fiber without giving up the feel and sound Joss players have trusted for decades.
A Longer Taper for a Smoother Stroke
The biggest difference you will notice is the taper. The Shadow features a 13-inch pro taper, longer than Joss's traditional shafts. The shaft stays slim farther back, giving your bridge hand more room and letting your stroke glide through smoothly and consistently. Paired with carbon fiber's low-deflection characteristics, it lets you apply draw, follow, and side spin with confidence.
Low Deflection, Solid Hit
Inside the shaft, Joss uses a carefully selected combination of foams with different densities that work together with the shaft's weight system. This construction tunes the balance between low deflection, feedback, and sound, so you get a solid, consistent hit instead of the hollow feel found in some carbon shafts.
Up front, a short 3/16-inch white ferrule keeps front-end mass to a minimum while maintaining a traditional appearance. Each Shadow is fitted with a Joss Premium Medium Layered Tip for excellent chalk retention, shape consistency, and dependable performance.
Built to Last
Carbon fiber offers exceptional resistance to warping and everyday wear. Its smooth surface resists the dings, dirt, and moisture that affect traditional wood shafts, so there is no sanding, sealing, or worrying about a humid pool room.
