More Power. Less Effort. Real Wood.

The Pechauer Black Ice Break Shaft is a purpose-built upgrade for players who want serious performance on the break without replacing their entire cue. Available for most popular joint types, it's one of the most versatile and effective break shaft upgrades on the market. With multiple joint choices, this shaft can transform any cue into a break cue.

The Black Ice Shaft — More Than Just a Shaft

The Black Ice Shaft starts with a solid piece of hard rock maple — the same premium wood used across Pechauer's entire shaft lineup. Because it's real wood, each shaft carries its own natural character: grain patterns, mineral marks, and sugar marks that make every one unique. Through a deep dyeing process, jet black dye is forced into the pores of the wood, penetrating all the way through. Because maple is such a hard and dense wood, the dye settles into a striking lighter gray finish, with darker grain lines and thin white lines where the dye couldn't fully penetrate. These are not defects — they are the natural character of the wood showing through, and no two shafts will look exactly alike.

What truly sets the Black Ice Shaft apart is Pechauer's Infused Chemical Engineering (ICE) Technology. Rather than a surface coating or barrier treatment, chemicals are permanently infused directly into the cells of the wood, fundamentally changing its structure. The result is added density, a smooth glass-like feel, reduced friction, and increased cue ball velocity — all without compromising the natural feedback of real maple. This multi-step process is a permanent treatment that penetrates the entire shaft.

With an average shaft weight of 6.4 oz (approximately 2 oz more than a standard shaft), the Black Ice delivers a weight-forward balance that puts more mass behind every stroke. The payoff? More power with less effort — helping make any cue a legitimate break cue and giving you a real edge when it matters most.

Each shaft features a 5/8" Juma Ferrule and a C4+ Break Tip (random colors) for a consistent, controlled hit, along with a 1/4" black trim ring at the joint. Available for most popular joint types.
